New Questions around democracy
What is a citizen, especially when we say we need to engage as citizens In Zimbabwe, are women treated as citizens? In the rural areas where they are not accorded equal rights when they need simple services? When you ask about democracy, that opens up a whole lot of issues.
Suggestions for the international Network and connection with the Foundation
There should be some follow up from the Foundation after all that investment. There is a lot that happens in between and after fellowship. My interaction has been sporadic. When fellows are invited back to meeting, let’s be clear what they are doing. Former and new fellows need to collect. I did not know there was another Zimbabwean who had gone for fellowship. There could be a hangout group= first as regional groups and at some point we can all come together. This will have to be sold regulated otherwise the Foundation has to get a full time person to do the initial set-up. We also need to know who is interested. Some may have moved into other jobs and may not be interested in keeping connected. I would like to know what other people are doing around issues I am working on. Maybe a list of fellows and their areas of expertise twice a year and people must have the option to unsubscribe anytime.
Quotes/Insights
A lot of the materials I got from the Foundation are quite useful to what we are doing now- Out of my work at the foundation I had several papers published.
